PIERCING
A successfully healed piercing is made of three things: correct jewellery, correct piercing placement and correct aftercare.
We firmly believe that using the highest quality implant grade titanium jewellery of the correct size and gauge greatly affects the healing time of a piercing and the jewellery you choose is guaranteed to last as long as your piercing.
What is the minimum age for a piercing?
Lobes - 8 years old with parental consent. ID from PARENT and CHILD is essential. CONSENT given by the child is essential. Amy will not pierce a child’s ear unless they themself ask her to.
Failure to have both those things when you arrive at the appointment will lead to a loss of the booking fee.
All Other Ear Piercings - 13 years old with parental consent and photo ID from PARENT and CHILD.
Everything else (including navel, tongue, nose etc but not nipples) - 16 years old with photo ID. No parental consent required, but must be over 16.
Nipples - 18 years with photo ID. No parental consent required, but must be over 18.
What ID do you need for a piercing?
It must be government issue ID - so a drivers licence, passport or Gov issue ID card.
Do you do dermal or surface piercings?
No, we do not do dermal piercings or remove them. They have a high chance of rejection, they are so easy to catch, and leave a scare afterwards so we don’t recommend them.
We do surface piercings, which are £40. A surface piercing has an entrance and exit site, whereas a dermal piercing is “anchored” under the skin.
Can I have a hoop to start with?
No! Putting a hoop in fresh piercings come with lots of risks. Firstly, there is no room for swelling so can cause irritation and nasty fluid bumps on each side of the piercing.
Secondly, the hoop moves freely in and out of the fresh piercing, dragging bacteria into the open wound, which can cause infection.
When can I get a hoop put in my piercing?
Everyone heals at different rates. Usually, we recommend leaving a piercing at least 3 months before you can change to a hoop, but it only should be changed if it is fully healed.
Amy sells hoops of all different shapes and sizes at the studio, so if you want to make sure the piercing is ready you can book in for a change and Amy can check it is healed properly and fit you a hoop that is the correct size and a safe metal.
What metal do you pierce with?
We only use implant grade titanium. It is hypoallergenic, a plain full white metal with nothing else mixed in to it. It is the safest cleanest metal for a fresh piercing. We do not use gold or silver to pierce with as these metals often have others mixed in to make it stronger, which can cause a reaction. Once the piercing is healed, we can change it to a different piece of jewellery.
Our studio is very busy and we do not accept walk-ins for piercings sorry, please message our facebook page to book or call 01539 722900
